Indian cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami has broken his silence over the rumours about him marrying tennis sensation Sania Mirza.

In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Shami urged people to refrain from creating baseless rumours for amusement. "I urge everyone to be responsible with social media and refrain from spreading such unfounded news," Shami said.

Shami expressed that he found the rumors strange and intentional, seemingly done for trivial amusement. He mentioned that if he were to check his phone, he would likely see those memes. However, he emphasized that while memes are generally created for fun, it is important to consider their impact if they pertain to someone's life before sharing them.

Criticizing people for sharing content from unverified sources and spreading unchecked information indiscriminately, Shami added, "But I would like to say one thing - if you have the guts to say all these things from a verified page, then I will reply. Try achieving success, help people, and upgrade yourself, then I will believe that you are a good person."

A few months ago, fans of both sports stars found the idea of their marriage intriguing and took to social media to declare them a "tailor-made couple." Some fans even went as far as morphing their pictures together and creating wedding photos. One of these morphed images was taken from Sania's first marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, and another from Shami's first marriage to Hasin Jahan.

Last month, Sania's father, Imran Mirza, reacted to the reports, calling them "rubbish." He stated, "This is all rubbish. She has not even met him."
