Rohit Sharma To Discuss Retirement With Coach Ajit Agarkar After Champions Trophy Final: Reports

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who conquered the world and announced retirement from T20 Internationals, is now likely to make a decision on his future in other formats. According to reports, Rohit plans to discuss his career path with Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector, after the Champions Trophy 2025 final.

Rohit led India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup alongside Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja before retiring from T20Is. Speculation surrounds his future in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Tests. If India secures the Champions Trophy title, Rohit might announce his retirement from these formats too.

Focus on Winning

Vice-captain Shubman Gill addressed the media instead of Rohit before the final match. Gill mentioned that there have been no discussions about Rohit's future within the team or with him personally. "All our discussions have been about winning the final and the title," he stated.

Gill further added that Rohit is not currently contemplating retirement decisions. "Rohit Bhai would not be thinking about it at the moment. I think once the match ends tomorrow, he will make a decision," Gill said at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Past Achievements

India aims for their third Champions Trophy win after sharing one with Sri Lanka in 2002 and defeating England in 2013. New Zealand also claimed victory once by beating India in 2000. The upcoming final holds significant importance for both Rohit and Team India.

Earlier this year, Rohit opted out of India's Test squad for the last match against Australia in a five-match series. He clarified that he was not retiring from Test cricket at that time.
