Excited fans gathered in large numbers to welcome Rohit back home. Viral videos captured the moment he stepped out of the airport, greeted by thunderous cheers and applause.

The overwhelming crowd necessitated a strong security presence, with police officers escorting the cricketer as fans eagerly attempted to catch a glimpse, shake hands, or snap a selfie with their hero.

Following India's victory over Australia in the semi-finals, Rohit also set a unique record by becoming the first and only captain to lead a team in the final of every ICC tournament.

Under his leadership, India reached the finals of the 2023 World Test Championship, the 2023 ODI World Cup, the 2024 T20 World Cup, and now the 2025 Champions Trophy. His tenure as captain has already seen India lift the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Speaking after the final on Sunday, Rohit had a heartfelt message for the fans who came out in support of the Indian team. He said, "I want to express my gratitude to everyone who turned up and supported us. The crowd has been fantastic. Although this was not our home ground, they made it feel like one. The number of people who came to watch us play and the fact that we could deliver the result they wanted was incredibly satisfying."

Rohit also reserved special praise for India's spin attack, comprising Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

"There are always high expectations from our spinners on a pitch like this, but they never let us down. We understand their strengths, and playing on such conditions benefitted them, which we used to our advantage. Throughout the tournament, our bowling unit has been exceptionally consistent," he remarked.
