Rohit Sharma Fined For Reckless Driving Ahead Of Bangladesh Clash

India's captain Rohit Sharma received multiple traffic fines for his reckless driving on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. As per Pune Mirror, Rohit was en route to Pune to join his fellow Indian cricketers ahead of the Bangladesh match in the 2023 World Cup when he was issued three online traffic citations for speeding.

The report alleges that Rohit was driving at exceptionally high speeds, reaching up to 200 km/h, with his Lamborghini briefly touching 215 km/h, which raised concerns among traffic authorities. The exact date of the speeding incident is not specified but likely occurred between Monday and Tuesday.

Rohit had arrived in Pune with the rest of the Indian squad on Sunday. It's possible that the captain decided to spend a day with his family in Mumbai, as Monday served as a rest day for all the Indian cricketers. They resumed practice on Tuesday evening in preparation for their World Cup match at the MCA Stadium on Thursday.

Rohit has been in exceptional form in the ongoing World Cup, rising to sixth place in the ICC ODI batters' ranking. He accumulated 131 runs against Afghanistan and followed up with a commanding 86 from 63 balls against arch-rivals Pakistan, establishing himself as one of the most in-form batters in the tournament.

The aggressive right-hander aims to maintain his excellent performance against Bangladesh, a team that has defeated India three times in their last four ODIs - twice in a bilateral series in December 2022 and more recently in the Asia Cup Super Four match.

In this competition, the underdog teams have demonstrated their ability to triumph over the giants, as evidenced by England and South Africa's shocking losses to Afghanistan and the Netherlands, respectively. If India wins their match against Bangladesh, they will secure their fourth consecutive victory, putting them in a favorable position to reclaim the top spot currently held by New Zealand with 8 points.
