RCB vs KKR: Bengaluru Unites in White Jersey Tribute to Virat Kohli at Chinnaswamy Stadium
As the IPL 2025 resumes tonight following a brief pause due to the India-Pakistan tensions surrounding Operation Sindoor, the city of Bengaluru is once again at the heart of cricketing emotion and energy. The high-voltage clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium isn't just another game - it's become the backdrop for a deeply symbolic and heartfelt tribute.

RCB fans are turning the stadium into a sea of white, a bold and emotional gesture in honour of Virat Kohli, who announced his retirement from Test cricket just last week.
White for King: A Farewell Like No Other
Traditionally wrapped in red and gold, RCB fans have taken a detour this time - choosing white jersey to represent purity, loyality, gratitude, and respect. The #WhiteForKing movement gained massive momentum online earlier this week, with fan clubs across Karnataka and beyond mobilising to make the tribute a success.
"Virat is not just our player - he's our heartbeat. Wearing white is our way of standing up for him, with him," said Ravi Gowda, an RCB superfan who has attended every home match this season.
"He gave us his best every single time. Tonight, this is our turn," said Aryan Prasad. "White is the colour of farewell, but also of pride. Kohli will always be our captain."
However, not everyone is on board with the plan.
Concerns Over Visibility Dismissed by RCB Fans
The tribute, while widely appreciated, has drawn some concern from cricketing quarters over ball visibility - the fear being that a white crowd backdrop may interfere with players spotting the white ball during play. However, those fears have done little to dampen the spirits of fans.
"On a night like this, emotion overrules aesthetics," said Shruti Menon, another RCB supporter queued outside Gate 4 hours before the toss.
RCB vs KKR: A Match with High Stakes
Tonight's fixture - the 58th match of IPL 2025 - is vital for both franchises. RCB, under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, have had a stellar season and currently sit second on the points table with 8 wins from 11 games. A win tonight will almost certainly seal their place in the playoffs.
KKR, in contrast, have struggled to find momentum. With just 5 wins from 12 matches, the defending champions need to win both their remaining games to have a chance at playoff qualification.
In their earlier encounter on March 22 at Eden Gardens, RCB handed KKR a seven-wicket defeat in the tournament opener - a result Kolkata will be desperate to reverse.
Bengaluru Weather Watch: Thunderstorms Loom
As fans flock to the stadium, the weather remains a potential spoiler. Thunderstorms and passing showers are expected through the evening, which could lead to interruptions. However, Chinnaswamy's modern drainage infrastructure provides hope for a timely match, despite the damp forecast.
While the weather forecast warns of occasional thunderstorms, fans are unfazed. Chinnaswamy's fast-draining outfield and covered stands offer hope for a full contest.
For Virat Kohli, tonight may not be a formal farewell as he continues to play white-ball cricket - but it is undoubtedly a celebration of an era.
