RCB's Shreyanka Patil Nominated For ICC Women’s Emerging Cricketer Of The Year 2024 Award

India's promising talent, Shreyanka Patil, has been nominated for the ICC Women's Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2024. The announcement came on December 28. As a bowling all-rounder for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), she had an impressive start to her international career in 2024, earning her this prestigious nomination.

Shreyanka's achievements in 2024 were remarkable as she led RCB to their first WPL title. She took the most wickets in the tournament, with 13, including four crucial ones in the final against Delhi Capitals. Her performances earned her the WPL Emerging Player of the Tournament award.

International Cricket Impact

In international cricket, Shreyanka made a significant impact after debuting in ODIs and T20Is in 2023. In 2024, she claimed fifteen wickets across thirteen T20I matches and added four more wickets in two ODI innings. These performances contributed to her ICC award nomination.

However, Shreyanka faces stiff competition from South Africa's Annerie Dercksen for the year-end honour. Dercksen debuted in Tests and ODIs this year and quickly rose to prominence with her all-round abilities.

Other Nominees

Annerie Dercksen's stats are impressive; she scored 161 runs and took five wickets in seventeen T20I innings. In ODIs, she added seventy runs and six wickets over four innings. Her Test debut against England saw her score fifty runs across two innings.

Among the nominees is also Scotland's Saskia Horley, an 18-year-old spin all-rounder who made headlines with a century against PNG women. Horley amassed 276 runs and took five wickets in just five ODI innings this year.

Young Talent on Display

Horley's performance extended to T20Is where she scored 142 runs and claimed three wickets in 2024. Despite being the youngest nominee at eighteen, Horley remains a formidable contender for the ICC award.

The list of nominees also includes Ireland's Freya Sargent, another young spin all-rounder who impressed across formats this year. These emerging talents highlight the growing pool of skilled cricketers worldwide.

This year's nominations showcase exceptional young talent making waves on the international stage. Each nominee has demonstrated outstanding skills and potential throughout 2024, making them worthy contenders for recognition by ICC.
