RCB IPL 2025 Final: Fan Urges CM to Declare June 3 a Public Holiday If Royal Challengers Bengaluru Wins Cup
As Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) storm into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, after defeating Punjab in the playoffs, excitement is at an all-time high among fans who have waited nearly two decades for this moment. After 18 years of unwavering support, RCB fans believe that their long-cherished dream of lifting the trophy is finally within reach.
Amid the celebrations, one loyal fan has taken his support a step further. Shivananda Mallannavar, a young man from Gokak in Belagavi district, has written a heartfelt letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging him to declare the day of RCB's victory as the 'RCB Fans' Festival' and grant a public holiday if the team clinches the title.

In his letter, Shivananda requested that the day be officially recognised and celebrated every year as a tribute to the team's loyal fanbase. He compared the potential celebration to Karnataka Rajyotsava, suggesting that festivities be held across all districts to honour the momentous occasion.
What the fan wrote in his letter:
"If the RCB team wins the IPL 2025 cup, the government should officially declare that day as the 'Karnataka State RCB Fans Festival' and give it a holiday every year.
Because the long-held dream of RCB fans is about to come true, we request the Karnataka government to facilitate the celebration of the RCB Fans Festival in the same way as we celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava in every district.
We, on behalf of all RCB fans, request the Karnataka government to take this seriously and grant permission for the holiday and RCB Fans Festival."
Shivananda's letter is now going viral on social media, drawing attention from cricket lovers across the state. While there has been no official response from the government yet, the move reflects the deep emotional bond fans share with the team.
On the other hand, a woman in the stands grabbed attention by holding up a poster declaring she would divorce her husband if RCB didn't win the title. She stood waiting for the cameras to capture the bold message - and it didn't take long for the image to go viral on social media.
With RCB just one win away from making history, the call for a statewide celebration adds another layer to the electrifying atmosphere leading up to the final.
The IPL 2025 final will take place on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB will face the winner of Qualifier 2, which will take place on June 1. Meanwhile, the Qualifier 2 will be played between Punjab and winner of Eliminator (MI vs GT).
