Pakistani Cricket Fan’s Bold Claim : ‘Trophy India Ki Hi Hai’

Pakistani cricket fan Faryal Waqar has no doubts-Team India will lift the ICC Champions Trophy today. In an interview with Connect Cine's Faridoon Shahryar, Waqar openly expressed her admiration for India's stellar performance in the tournament, calling it nothing short of "tremendous."

Her support for India may surprise many, given her Pakistani roots, but Waqar is a strong advocate for cross-border sportsmanship. "Cricket is a game that thrives on sportsmanship. It's important to uphold that spirit," she told Cine Connect.

Pakistani Cricket Fan s Bold Claim Trophy India Ki Hi Hai

'India Has Been Playing to Win'
Waqar remains unfazed by Pakistan's elimination from the tournament, maintaining that the best team deserves to win. "So what if Pakistan didn't qualify? I always say, may the better team win, and India has been performing brilliantly. If you look at their previous matches, it's evident that they are playing with the intent to win," she said.

Waqar first gained attention after attending the India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match in Dubai, where fans noticed her striking resemblance to Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone. However, it wasn't just her looks that made her viral-her composed and balanced views after Pakistan's loss to India also drew widespread admiration.

Despite Pakistan's early exit, Waqar has continued to cheer for India throughout the tournament. She was even spotted at an India vs New Zealand match with a Pakistani flag painted on one cheek and the Indian tricolor on the other-a gesture symbolizing unity beyond rivalry.

"India has qualified for the final, and I'm sure their morale is sky-high. They've already beaten New Zealand once, so doing it again shouldn't be a big challenge," said the UAE-based cricket fan.

Waqar also spoke about her broader vision of unity between the two nations. "We have so many similarities, and I would love to see a world where we work together rather than against each other," she shared.

When asked if she was backing India in the final, Waqar confidently stated, "I think India's got this. I've been saying for the last two or three games-this trophy belongs to India."
