Omar Abdullah Announces ₹2 Crore Reward as J&K Make History in Cricket
Jammu and Kashmir scripted history on Saturday by winning their first-ever Ranji Trophy title. The team faced Karnataka in the summit clash, and although the final ultimately ended in a draw, J&K were declared champions after holding a lead in the first innings.
This victory marks only the ninth instance in Ranji Trophy history where a team has won the title in their maiden appearance in the final. The achievement sparked celebrations across the region, with Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announcing a ₹2 crore cash reward for the players. Abdullah shared the news on his official X account, calling the win a "watershed moment" for the state and its citizens.

"The players will also be entitled to government appointments under the recently notified rules for outstanding sportspersons," Abdullah added, highlighting the long-term benefits of their success.
Omar Abdullah Hails Team's Dominance
Speaking from Hubballi, Abdullah praised the team's consistency throughout the five-day final. "They've done it. Well done, J&K. There hasn't been a single day in this final when the team has not dominated the opposition," he said.
