Not Just From Virat, Maxwell, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Should Get Best Out Of This Player: Gavaskar

Amid the discussions over Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) new captain and past performances, legend cricketer turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar feels that the Bangalore franchise should get the best out of some of its top players if they want to win the title. Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) could not win a single trophy in the last 16 years, and now, the team is eager to lift the glittering trophy.

Gavaskar said Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who has great potential with bat and ball and had scored a blitzkrieg century for the Mumbai Indians in IPL last year, has to perform better for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2024. RCB's coaching staff has to get the best out of him if they want to recover the hefty price they paid.

Gavaskars Advice For Royal Challengers

For the unversed, the Royal Challenger's Bangalore (RCB) added Cameron Green to their kitty during the IPL 2024 mini-auction held at Dubai's Coco-Cola Arena for a whopping Rs 17.50 crore. The trade also allowed the Mumbai-based franchise to acquire Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Titans (GT).

During a discussion on Star Sports, Gavaskar responded to a question about good batting conditions for Cameron Green at the Royal Challengers Bangalore's home ground, to which, former cricket said, "This player will have to perform better than last year because of the price you bought him for. Yes, I agree he scored a century as well for the Mumbai Indians last year. However, he will have to perform better than that because you should recover the price you bought him for and the Mumbai Indians didn't recover that."

"If RCB has to recover the price, he has to do something not only in batting but bowling as well. He can deliver with the bat because he has that ability. He can play the big shots. He is well-organized in batting," Gavaskar added.

Cameron Green made his IPL debut last year. In 16 IPL matches, he has scored 452 runs, with an average of 50.22.
