No Indian Flag At Karachi Stadium? Champions Trophy Host Pakistan Cricket Board Issues Clarification
After facing online criticism for not putting Indian flag at the Karachi International Stadium amoung the ICC Champions Trophy participants, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now issued a clarification. The controversy sparked following a viral video. Fans speculated that India's matches in Dubai led to this omission.
Team India will play all their Champions Trophy matches at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This decision follows the Indian government's refusal to allow travel to Pakistan. Both PCB and BCCI agreed with ICC for India and Pakistan to play at neutral venues during each other's hosted tournaments.

ICC Guidelines on Flag Hoisting
The PCB clarified that the ICC advised only four flags to be displayed on match days: ICC, PCB, and those of the competing teams. "The ICC has advised that only four flags will be hoisted on CT25 match days - ICC (Event Authority), PCB (Event Host), and the two sides competing on that day," a PCB source said.
Pakistan won't travel to India for upcoming events like the Women's World Cup 2025 and Men's T20 World Cup 2026. This is part of an agreement due to strained relations since 2012-13 when Pakistan last toured India for ODI and T20I series.
Upcoming Matches and Historical Context
India last visited Pakistan in 2008 for the Asia Cup, while Pakistan came to India for the T20 World Cup 2016 and ODI World Cup 2023. However, with India not visiting Pakistan recently, Pakistan has also chosen not to travel there for current ICC events.
The Champions Trophy will kick off with Pakistan facing New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi. Meanwhile, India will begin their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. Both teams are in Group A of this eight-team tournament and are set for a highly anticipated clash on February 23.
The lack of bilateral cricketing ties between India and Pakistan adds significance to these encounters.
