Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi And Mujeeb Ur Rahman To Miss IPL 2024
Afghanistan cricketers Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are likely to miss the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League 2024. According to the reports, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) deferred a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to these players to play overseas franchise cricket.
The cricket body took this decision as a disciplinary measure and the aforementioned cricketers will not be allowed to participate in the franchise league for the next two years. The reports added that the Afghanistan cricket board's bouncer came after the trio expressed a desire to be released from the central contract.

"ACB Impose Sanctions and Delay Central Contracts of Three National Players. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided to delay the 2024 annual central contracts for national players, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazal Haq Farooqi, and Naveen Ul Haq Mureed. Additionally, the Board has opted not to grant them No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for the next two years following their intention to be released from their annual central contracts," the Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement.
The cricket board reprimanded Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman for giving priority to cash-based leagues over national duty. ACB has also ordered to form a committee to investigate the allegations, and to give players a chance to keep their side.
If the committee found all three players guilty, then they might lose the central contract for one year.
In the recently held IPL Auctions 2024, spin master Mujeeb Ur Rahman was roped in by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 2 crore, his base price. The spinner was supposed to make a return to the Indian Premier League after three years, which is now in doubt.
Pacer Naveen-ul-Haq, who got engaged in a verbal spat with Indian great Virat Kohli, is a part of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The speedster was retained by the team ahead of the IPL's Dubi auction. He picked up 11 wickets in 8 matches last season.
Fazalhaq Farooqi, the left-arm pacer, was retained by SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 50 lakh. He cliched six wickets in seven games at an economy rate of 8.96.
