MI Beats GG, WPL 2024: Harmanpreet, Amelia Kerr Star As Mumbai Indians Win By 5 Wickets Against Gujarat Giants
In a low-scoring match, Mumbai Indians won against Gujarat Giants on Sunday at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. Throughout the match, Harmanpreet Kaur and her team were in a dominating position giving no chance to the Gujarat franchise to surpass them.
Leading from the front, Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored the first half-century of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) in the inaugural match against the Delhi Capitals, continued her good form and notched unbeaten 46 runs off 41 balls studded with 5 boundaries and a six.

New Zealand cricketer Amelia Kerr was named player of the match for her all-rounder performances. She picked up 4 wickets and contributed valuable 31 runs in Mumbai's chase.

Starting things on a positive note, Mumbai Indians won the toss and invited Beth Mooney's Gujarat Giants to bat first on a track that was expected to favor batters as Harmanpreet Kaur's side has expertise in chasing.
Proving her captain's decision right, MUmbai's bowling unit restricted Gujarat batters to a low total of 126 runs.
For Gujarat Giants, skipper and opener Beth Mooney scored 24 runs, but the rest of the top batting order failed to impress. In the lower middle-order, Kathryn Bryce showed some good hands to contribute 25 runs with tail-ended Tanuja Kanwar, who impressed everyone by scoring 28.
During the chase, Mumbai Indians too faced some early setbacks as Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Mathew returned after scoring 7 runs each. The ship was steadied by Nat Sciver-Brunt (22) and Harmanpreet Kaur (46) did not let Gujarat Giants lead on any point.
Mumbai captain ended the match with a six with 11 balls to spare.
