After Axar Patel conceded 24 runs in the 14th over of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final, South Africa required only 30 runs off 30 balls, placing Virat Kohli's Team India on the brink of another World Cup heartbreak.

At this critical moment, Rohit Sharma, determined to overcome the memories of past ICC finals at Kensington Oval in Barbados, took decisive action. The Indian skipper brought in pace ace Jasprit Bumrah for the death overs against the confident South African batters, as reported by Hindustan Times.

What followed has become part of cricketing history. Following a masterful performance by Kohli, Bumrah delivered a match-winning spell that secured a thrilling victory for Team India in Barbados. Bumrah's exceptional bowling in the death overs ensured India's dramatic seven-run win over South Africa. During the felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, batting legend Kohli gave Bumrah a significant shoutout, as reported by Hindustan Times.

"What I want everyone to do is applaud a guy who brought us back," Kohli announced to a packed Wankhede Stadium after Team India's open bus parade in Mumbai. "I am sure that like everyone in this stadium, we also thought - is it going to slip away? A huge shoutout to Jasprit Bumrah. We are lucky that he plays for us." The fans at Wankhede responded with chants of 'Boom Boom' to honour the fast bowler.

Jasprit Bumrah was even suggested to be declared a national treasure during the special event at Wankhede. Presenter Gaurav Kapoor proposed the idea to Kohli, who enthusiastically agreed. "I am considering signing a petition to declare Jasprit Bumrah a national treasure. Will you sign it?" Kapoor asked. "I will sign it right now," Kohli responded, as per media reports.
