Joe Root Close To Surpass Jacques Kallis, Rahul Dravid's Test Record

Former England captain Joe Root has been a dominant figure in Test cricket. Since stepping down from the captaincy, the 34-year-old has made a significant impact and is on track to surpass Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid's remarkable Test records. Root is just 31 runs away from becoming the third-highest run-scorer in Test cricket history.

Root's Pursuit of Record-Breaking Runs

Sachin Tendulkar leads with 15,921 runs, followed by Ricky Ponting with 13,378 runs. Currently, Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid hold the third and fourth positions with 13,289 and 13,288 runs, respectively. Root has accumulated 13,259 runs in Test cricket and can overtake Kallis and Dravid in the upcoming Test against India at Old Trafford in Manchester.

Joe Root

Root could potentially surpass Ponting in the fourth Test to become the second-highest run-scorer in Test history. The Sheffield-born cricketer needs only 119 more runs, a target well within his reach given his calibre. However, catching up to Tendulkar's record will require consistent performance over the next few years.

Root's Performance Against India

During the five-match series against Shubman Gill's team, Root had a slow start but rose to the occasion when it mattered most. He scored a century in the third Test at Lord's, leading England to a narrow 22-run victory and securing a 2-1 lead in the series.

Root's journey towards breaking these records highlights his exceptional skill and determination.
