Jasprit Bumrah Named ICC Men’s Test Cricketer Of The Year After Stellar 2024

Jasprit Bumrah was named ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year on Monday.

The Indian pace spearhead enjoyed a stellar 2024, delivering outstanding performances both at home and abroad.

Bumrah edged out England's Joe Root and Harry Brook, as well as Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis, to win the prestigious award.

Bumrah has been India's leading fast bowler for many years, but this year he has truly been at the peak of his career.

"I am deeply honoured to receive the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year award. Test cricket has always been a format I hold close to my heart, and to be recognised on this platform is truly special," said Bumrah.

"This award is not just a reflection of my individual efforts but also of the unwavering support of my teammates, coaches, and fans who continue to believe in me and inspire me every day. Representing India is a privilege I deeply cherish, and knowing my efforts bring smiles to people around the world makes this journey even more special."

Bumrah was exceptional in all conditions, with his standout performance being in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he took 30 wickets with one match remaining. The series also saw him reach the 200 Test wickets milestone, becoming the fastest Indian to achieve this feat.

With India's captain Rohit Sharma unavailable for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, Bumrah stepped up to lead the team to a dominant 295-run victory.

After India were bowled out for just 150 in the first innings, Bumrah turned the game in their favour with a five-wicket haul, followed by three more wickets in the second innings to seal the victory and deny Australia, who were chasing 534.

Bumrah's performances propelled him back to the top of the ICC Test bowler rankings, ultimately earning him the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year award.
