IPL Moving Overseas? Curious Fans Ask After Sunrisers Hyderabad Players Fly To Maldives

Surprising everyone, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team suddenly went on a trip to the Maldives amidst the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. SRH players and support staff were spotted relaxing and having a chill time in the island nation. This unexpected move came as a shock to many Hyderabad team fans as SRH is performing below expectations this year. Some curious fans asked that BCCI has shifted the IPL to the Maldives? Why did SRH players go overseas instead of adapting to Indian conditions to play better?

Just for clarity, IPL schedule does not include any matches outside of India.

A little break for SRH players was made possible due to a significant break in the team's schedule, allowing both players and staff a chance to refresh before their upcoming match against the Gujarat Titans.

"Sun, sea, and a team retreat for our Risers in the Maldives!" SRH said in a social media post.

Facing a must-win scenario in their recent match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to stay in contention for the playoffs, SRH displayed a commendable performance.

Choosing to field first, they managed to restrict CSK to 154 runs, thanks to stellar bowling efforts, particularly from Harshal Patel who clinched 4 wickets for 28 runs and Jaydev Unadkat who supported well. The chase saw its tense moments, but contributions from Ishan Kishan and Kamindu Mendis ensured a victory for SRH with eight balls to spare, marking a significant boost in their campaign.

This victory was crucial for SRH, propelling them to the eighth position on the points table.

With three wins and six losses, accumulating six points, SRH have kept their playoff hopes alive.
