During the break between sets of bidding at the IPL Auction 2024, Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani answered a query raised by a fan that won hearts. Replying to a loud enquire made by a Rohit Sharma fan over the legend's appearance in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League from the viewer's gallery at the Coca-Cola Arean in Dubai, UAE, Akash Ambani very calmly said: "Do not worry, he will bat."
The question over Rohit Sharma's participation and batting order has been a hot topic of debate among the cricket fraternity and fans after the Paltan snatched a Hardik Pandya from the Gujarat Giants in a sensational trade. This will be Hardik's second stint with Mumbai Indians, where he has been appointed as the captain.
Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai Indians for a decade, has played 243 matches in his IPL career and managed to score over six thousand runs. He bags one century and forty-two half-centuries in franchise cricket. The cricketer will continue to provide services to Mumbai for Rs 16 crore.
Meanwhile, Australian cricketers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins broke the bank with whooping amounts of over 20 crores. Kolkata Knight Riders bought speedster Starc for Rs 24.75 crores and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bid Rs 20 crore for Australian captain Cummins.
