IPL Auction 2024: Dhoni's Chennai Gets Daryl Mitchell, Harshal Patel Goes To Punjab: Check Big Amounts

IPL Auction 2024: The upcoming edition of the India Premier League has already started catching the attention as franchise owners showered hefty amounts on star cricketers. The bidding took place at Dubai's Coca-Cola arean on Tuesday. In the second round of the bidding, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings bought New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell for a fat 14 crores amount. To get the cricketer signed, a little tussle took place between Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings. After the deal with CSK, Mitchell became the 2nd-highest buy of IPL auction 2024.

The Kiwi cricketer will join compatriots Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Mitchell Santner in the Yellow Army. The pinch hitter has a strong T20 record studded with 18 half-centuries in 169 appearances for his national side. He scored an average of 24.86 runs with a strike rate of 137.22, said records. Mitchell was part of Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2022.

Preity Zinta's Punjab Kings roped in Indian pacer Harshal Patel for Rs 11.75 Cr. With this deal, Harshal Patel became the highest-paid Indian for IPL this season. The pacers had a tremendous stint with Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore and now he will play under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan.

In IPL Auction 2024, 333 cricketers are going under the bidding process to fill 77 vacant slots in the 10 franchise teams namely Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Gujarat Titans (GT), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow SuperGiants (LSG).
