IPL 2026: GT vs CSK April 26 Match Moved To Chennai, Reverse Fixture On May 21 Shifted To Ahmedabad

The BCCI has revised the schedule for two IPL 2026 league matches involving Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, swapping the venues of their April 26 and May 21 fixtures due to municipal corporation elections in Gujarat.

In an official statement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces a revision in the schedule of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026." The update affects the home venues of both teams, though the dates and match timings remain unchanged.

GT vs CSK on April 26 shifted from Ahmedabad to Chennai

The afternoon match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, which was earlier scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on April 26, 2026, will now be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The BCCI confirmed, "The afternoon fixture between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, originally scheduled to be played in Ahmedabad on April 26, 2026, will now be held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, with the match starting at 03:30 PM IST."

This means Chennai will now host the day fixture that was initially allotted to Ahmedabad, while the start time of 3:30 PM IST remains the same.

Reverse fixture on May 21 moved to Ahmedabad

As part of the swap, the reverse league-stage clash between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, originally listed in Chennai for May 21, 2026, has now been shifted to Ahmedabad.

The board said, "Accordingly, the reverse fixture between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, scheduled to be played on May 21, 2026 in the evening, will now be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, with the match set to begin at 07:30 PM IST."

This ensures both teams still host one game each, but at exchanged dates compared to the original schedule.

Why the IPL 2026 schedule was changed

The BCCI clarified that the decision was taken because of civic polls in Gujarat, which would have impacted arrangements in Ahmedabad on April 26.

Explaining the reason behind the adjustment, the statement noted, "The change has been necessitated in view of the municipal corporation elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat scheduled on April 26, 2026."

With this revision, the April 26 game will now be staged in Chennai, while Ahmedabad will host the May 21 evening encounter instead.

What remains unchanged in the revised fixtures

While the venues have been swapped, the match dates and start times remain exactly as originally planned. Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will still meet on April 26 in the afternoon and again on May 21 in the evening, with only the host cities being altered.

The April 26 fixture will now begin at 3:30 PM IST in Chennai, while the May 21 clash will start at 7:30 PM IST in Ahmedabad.
