IPL 2025 Security Breaches: 2 Out of 6 Matches See Pitch Invasions, Raising Player Safety Concerns
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has witnessed serious security lapses, with two out of the six matches so far experiencing major breaches. Fans storming the field to meet their favorite cricketers have once again put the safety of players under question.
Fan Invades Pitch to Meet Riyan Parag in Guwahati

One of the breaches occurred during the match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday. Riyan Parag, who is leading RR in the initial matches due to Sanju Samson's injury, was at the center of the incident.
As Parag was preparing to bowl an over, play was momentarily halted when a fan managed to evade security and sprint onto the pitch. The batsman at the crease backed away from the stumps upon spotting the intruder. The fan reached Parag, touched his feet, and hugged him before security personnel intervened and removed him from the stadium.
Virat Kohli Incident at Eden Gardens
Earlier, during the opening match of IPL 2025 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, a similar security lapse took place when a fan managed to bypass multiple security layers to meet Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli. The incident once again highlighted concerns over inadequate security measures at high-profile sporting events.
Security Measures Under Scrutiny
The back-to-back security breaches have sparked discussions on whether stadium protocols need stricter enforcement. With the IPL featuring top international and domestic players, ensuring their safety remains a priority for organizers and security officials.
