IPL 2025: Jasprit Bumrah Likely To Miss First Few Games

Ahead of the much anticipated season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025), a piece of bad news has arrived for team Mumbai Indians and its fans. According to the reports, speedster Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the first few games of IPL 2025 due to his back injury. Jaspit Bumrah got injured during the fifth Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia held at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Since then, Jasprit Bumrah is away from cricket. He also missed out the Champions Trophy 2025.

The reports said Bumrah will join the Mumbai camp in the first week of April. Before IPL, Jasprit Bumrah will go under a training session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to get clearance from the doctors, only after that, he can play for the Mumbai team in the IPL.

Bumrah's Absence and Team Dynamics

Mumbai Indians are scheduled to face formidable opponents in their opening matches without Bumrah. They will go head-to-head with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23, then Gujarat Titans on March 29, and finally, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 31. Given the timing of Bumrah's anticipated return, it is highly likely he will miss these encounters, possibly affecting the team's early-season performance. In his absence, players such as Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Hardik Pandya are expected to shoulder the increased bowling responsibilities.

Despite the challenges posed by Bumrah's injury, the Mumbai Indians' preparation for the upcoming season is underway, with most players already participating in the training camp. Mahela Jayawardene has resumed his role as head coach, and Hardik Pandya continues as captain, despite facing significant scrutiny last season. The team's ability to adapt to Bumrah's absence will be crucial in their quest for success in the early stages of the tournament.

Jasprit Bumrah's situation underscores the physical demands placed on modern cricketers. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he voiced concerns over workload management. Unfortunately, with Mohammed Shami also sidelined due to an injury, Bumrah had to bear an additional burden, which could have contributed to his current predicament.
