IPL 2025: BCCI Sec Jay Shah Announces Rs 1.5 Crore Extra Per Season For Players As Match Fees
In a significant development, the BCCI has introduced a match fee structure for IPL players. Announced by Jay Shah on September 28, this new system will see players earning Rs 7.5 lakh per game. If a player participates in all matches of a season from IPL 2025, they will receive Rs 1.05 crore.
Jay Shah also mentioned that each franchise would have Rs 12.60 crores allocated as match fees for the season. This initiative further solidifies IPL's status as the most valuable T20 franchise league globally, already known for its lucrative player contracts during auctions.

Impact on Players and Franchises
The introduction of match fees is unprecedented in franchise cricket leagues worldwide. It provides a substantial financial boost to players who might be underpaid compared to their market value. For instance, Rinku Singh from Kolkata Knight Riders currently earns Rs 50 lakh per season but could earn nearly double through match fees if he plays every game.
"In a historic move to celebrate consistency and champion outstanding performances in the IPL, we are thrilled to introduce a match fee of INR 7.5 lakhs per game for our cricketers! A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount," Jay Shah wrote in his X post. "Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season! This is a new era for the #IPL and our players!"

Future Changes and Auctions
The BCCI is also expected to unveil new retention rules and announce the date for the IPL 2025 mega auction soon. Reports suggest that there might be an allowance for five retentions, along with the reintroduction of the RTM card option before the auction.
This strategic move by BCCI not only enhances player earnings but also sets new benchmarks for other cricket leagues worldwide. As these changes unfold, they promise to make IPL even more competitive and rewarding for players and franchises alike.
