Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly stayed at Delhi Airport for around 45 minutes on Sunday after returning from Kolkata to ensure that students appearing for the NEET-UG re-examination could reach their examination centres without facing traffic disruptions.

According to sources, the Prime Minister landed in Delhi at approximately 1:15 PM, just before the medical entrance exam was scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM. Instead of immediately leaving for his residence, he chose to remain at the airport until the examination had started.

PM Modi Prioritises Students' Convenience

Sources said the Prime Minister was concerned that the movement of his convoy through Delhi roads could lead to temporary traffic restrictions and delays. Since thousands of students were travelling to examination centres across the city at the same time, he decided to postpone his departure from the airport.

The decision was aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and helping candidates reach their examination venues on time. The move has drawn attention as an example of prioritising public convenience, particularly for students appearing in one of the country's most competitive examinations.

Traffic management becomes especially important on examination days, as even minor delays can create stress for candidates. By staying back at the airport, the Prime Minister ensured that his security arrangements did not interfere with students' travel plans.

A Consistent Focus on Student Welfare

Over the years, PM Modi has frequently spoken about the importance of reducing examination stress among students. Through initiatives like "Pariksha Pe Charcha," he has interacted directly with students, parents, and teachers, encouraging young people to approach exams with confidence and a positive mindset.

His decision on Sunday reflects the government's continued focus on making examination-related processes smoother for students. Sources said the Prime Minister left the airport after the NEET examination had commenced.

NEET-UG Re-Examination Conducted Under Tight Security

The NEET-UG re-examination began at 2:00 PM on Sunday across India and at overseas centres. More than 22 lakh medical aspirants appeared for the test, making it one of the largest entrance examinations in the country.

The re-exam is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after the original examination held on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a question paper leak. Investigations into the matter are still ongoing.

Candidates were given three hours and fifteen minutes to complete the test, with the examination scheduled to conclude at 5:15 PM.

Massive Security Arrangements Across Exam Centres

To ensure transparency and prevent any malpractice, the NTA introduced extensive security measures for the re-examination.

The test is being held at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India, along with 14 centres abroad. Candidates are taking the examination in English and 12 Indian languages.
Authorities have equipped more than 95,000 examination rooms with CCTV surveillance. A total of 1,38,560 cameras have been installed, with live monitoring taking place at national, state, and ministry levels.

Additionally, over 51,000 signal jammers have been deployed at examination centres to prevent electronic cheating and safeguard the integrity of the examination process.

As lakhs of students appeared for the crucial medical entrance test, the day witnessed both unprecedented security arrangements and efforts to ensure candidates faced minimal inconvenience.
