IPL 2024: Surat Police Calls This SRH Star In Relation With A Model's Death

To join the investigation of model Tania Singh's death, Surat Police has issued summons to IPL star Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek, a left-arm pace bowling all-rounder who hails from Amritsar in Punjab, represents Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League and has impressed everyone with his bowling pace at the domestic level.

According to the reports, police found the 28-year-old model hanging on a ceiling fan of her flat in Happy Elegance Apartments on Vesu Road in Surat. There was no suicide no found in her room, however, police found some suspicious text messages from her phone.

An investigating police officer told the media that a notice has been sent to cricketer Abhishek Sharma to join the preliminary investigation as they have found his number in the deceased's phone. It looks like the duo was friends and she had sent him a message a few messages on WhatsApp, to which the cricketer did not respond.

Surat Police's ACP VR Malhotra said "We have so far learned this much that Abhishek Sharma was in friendship with the deceased model. More details will be known in the investigation."

"After verification, we may call the persons whose names come up during verification for recording their statements, if required," the policeman added.

Abhishek Sharma a promising all-rounder was the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2016 U19 Youth Asia Cup. He impressed everyone with his pinch-hitting in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) last year as he notched 226 runs.

Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) is around the corner and landing in a legal soup just before the commencement of the enthralling tournament may affect Abhishek Sharma's cricketing career at large. As per the schedule shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), IPL 2024 will begin from March 22. A total of 72 matches including the semis and final will be played at different venues across the country.
