IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals Captain Rishabh Pant Close To Face Ban, Read Details Here

Indian Premier League aka IPL 2024 has not been a very good tournament for the Delhi Capitals so far, as Rishabh Pant-led side faced three defeats out of five matches. Though the Delhi team registered a thumping victory over strong Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) recently, the team needs to manage consistency in all departments, if they want to better their chances to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs.

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant pulled a rabbit out of his hat in the DC vs LSG match, scoring blitzkrieg 41 off 24 balls. He was accompanied by IPL debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk, who notched 55 off 35 balls, powering his side to chase the target of 168 in only 18.1 overs. For his outstanding and economical bowling performance, 3 wickets for only 20 runs, Kuldeep Yadav was named player of the match.

But it's not just about the performance, Delhi Capitals also need to be careful with their on-field discipline else their Captain Rishabh Pant may face ban for a match.

According to the reports, the Delhi team has already breached the code for a slow over rate twice and escaped the third offence by inches during the match against Lucknow.

For the first incident, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 12 lakh and for the second infringement, the fine was doubled to Rs 24 lakh. But if the same happened again, the captain of the team, Rishabh Pant, may see a ban for a match along with a whopping Rs 30 lakh fine.

In the match against Lucknow, the Capitans were running behind the over rate until the 16th over but coped up the speed in last 4 overs.

According to the rule book, if a team is running behind the allotted time during the game, they can place four fielders outside the inner circle instead of five to cope with time, else they have to face heavy penalties.
