IPL 2024 CSK vs KKR: Here's What Gautam Gambhir Said For MS Dhoni Ahead Of The High-Voltage Match

In the rivalry week of Tata India Premier League (IPL 2024), MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns with Gautam Gambhir-mentored Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The CSK vs KKR match will commence at 7:30 pm and the toss will be performed 30 minutes before the game. It is expected to be a high-voltage match as both the stalwarts don't settle for anything less than a win. However, this time they have different roles to play. Dhoni would be helping CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad from behind the stumps, while Gambhir would be mentoring KKR from the dugout.

Meanwhile, Star Sports dropped former KKR Captain, Gautam Gambhir's video where the latter could be seen praising Dhoni and calling him the most successful Indian captain.

"I wanted to win. I am very clear in my mind. Friends, mutual respect, everything will remain. But when you are in the middle, I am captaining KKR and he is captaining CSK. If you ask him, he will probably give you the same answer. It's about winning. Obviously, MS is the most successful captain India will ever have. I don't think anyone can reach that level - winning 3 ICC trophies," Gautam Gambhir told Star Sports in the trending video.

Replying to a question, the left-hander said he has always enjoyed playing against the CSK superstar as he always presents a 'tactical mindset' challenge.

"But, yes, in the IPL, enjoyed every bit of it because I knew MS had that tactical mindset. He is very good tactically. Knew how to control the spinners, and how to set the fields against them, and would never give up as well. He batted at No. 6 or 7, and we knew that till he was there, he could finish off the game.

Gautam Gambhir also hailed MS Dhoni's match-finishing skills, adding that MS should think about better plans to undo franchises like CSK.

"Even if they needed 20 runs in an over, and MS was in the middle, he could finish off that game. At the same time, I knew I had the bowling attack to challenge anyone in the Super Kings. Knew that tactically had to be better than him in every front because he is not that aggressive on the field, but knew he would not give up. Chennai is that kind of a team, against whom you know you are not winning until the last ball was bowled," KKR mentor Gambhir further added.
