Inspiring! Yashasvi Jaiswal Shares Reason Behind His Hunger For Runs

Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a match-winning double hundred against England in the Rajkot test, shared his success story, the hunger he has to score runs, and the reason behind it. Yashasvi registered himself in the record books for converting his first three Test centuries into 150+ scores and looks like he is ready to fill the void after Shikhar Dhawan.

The left-hander was lauded by many cricket greats including Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar for his skillful inning, where he proved his caliber to switch gears even in the longer formats.

Speaking to the StarSports broadcasters, Yashasvi Jaiswal shared the story of his struggle and the reason behind his hunger for runs. The 22-year-old said "In India, when you grow up, you work really hard for each and everything,"

"Even when getting the bus you have to work really hard to get the bus. You have to work really hard to get to the train and auto and everything and I have done that since my childhood and I know how important every inning is and that's why I really work hard in my [practice] sessions and every inning counts for me and for my team," Jaiswal said.

He added that his biggest motivation to play is that he is representing the nation and wants to give his 100% every time he plays.

In only 7 tests, Yashasvi Jaiswal has noted 861 runs with the best figure of an unbeaten 214, which he scored in his last inning against England. His batting average is above 71 and strike rate stands near 70.
