India Vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024: Sending Virat Kohli As Opener Is India's Huge Mistake: Ex-Pak Star

With only a day left to the enthralling India vs Pakistan T20 World 2024 match, former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal shared a big suggestion for Team India. He questioned the arch-rival's decision to send Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as openers. Speaking on a show, he said Men in Blue are going with the wrong batting order and suggested that instead of Virat Kohli, left-handed Yashasvi Jaiswal should start the innings.

India has played only one match in the tournament so far against Ireland, and they kept their dominance. In place of designated opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli started the inning, however, the ploy didn't work out as Kohli could only manage just one run off five balls.

"I don't think the batting order is correct. Virat Kohli can take the pressure at No.3 and finish the match. That is very important for Team India. Yashasvi Jaiswal should open the batting. Kohli should come at 3," Akmal said.

"If India stick to this batting order (of Kohli) opening, then they may get stuck at some point. Kohli holds one end up and finishes off the game. I think India are making a mistake by opening with Kohli," he added.

But it seems like Akmal did not notice Virat Kohli's.performance recent performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) as an opener. Virat Kohli scored the highest number of runs 741 with an impressive strike rate of 154 and was the lone warrior who took RCB to playoffs from the last spot.
