India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy Match Will Happen; Shoaib Akhtar Says BCCI Will Make A U-Turn

Pakistan's pace bowling legend, Shoaib Akhtar on Wednesday made a big statement which surely gave a little happiness to cricket lovers in India and Pakistan. Shoaib Akhtar predicted that a high-voltage India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match will happen and the Board For Control Of Cricket in India (BCCI) will make a U-turn on its decision of the Indian Cricket team not traveling to Pakistan. The BCCI made the call keeping political tension, border conflicts, and players' security in mind.

The ICC Champions Trophy was scheduled to take place in Pakistan, but the BCCI's last-minute decision not to participate has cast doubt on the event's future. This stance was somewhat anticipated, but the timing of the announcement has left the PCB frustrated.

India-Pakistan Cricket Tensions

Shoaib Akhtar shared his perspective on this ongoing conflict, expressing optimism about India participating in Pakistan. He dismissed the idea of India withdrawing due to sponsorship agreements and believed a resolution would be found between BCCI and PCB. "There will be back-channel talks," Akhtar stated, emphasising that even during conflicts, such discussions occur.

Akhtar further noted that government decisions play a crucial role in this situation, rather than just the BCCI's stance. He highlighted Virat Kohli's potential debut in Pakistan as a significant moment for both nations. "Imagine him scoring a century in Pakistan," he remarked, suggesting it would complete a full circle for Kohli.

Potential Impact on Future Events

Pakistan has struggled with hosting major tournaments like the World Cup due to security concerns. Successfully holding the Champions Trophy could pave the way for larger events in the future. However, Akhtar remained skeptical about this happening soon but remained hopeful until the final decision was made.

The ICC is expected to announce the Champions Trophy schedule soon.
