India vs England Test Series aka Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Launch Postponed
The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy launch has been postponed due to a tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, which resulted in over 250 fatalities. The decision was mutually agreed upon by the ECB and the BCCI. This unfortunate incident has led to a delay in the planned event as a mark of respect for those who lost their lives.
The Indian cricket team is gearing up to face England in a five-match Test series starting on June 20. This series will also mark the beginning of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. Recently, there was a decision to rename the India-England bilateral series from the Pataudi Trophy to the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Postponement of Trophy Launch
The trophy-naming ceremony was initially set for June 14, but both cricket boards decided to postpone it. An ECB official stated that "Given the tragic events in India, the announcement may wait a while out of respect (for the lives lost). The BCCI are still deciding on the right time for the announcement. The announcement had been kept flexible due to the tragedy," as reported by Cricbuzz.
Sachin Tendulkar's request influenced this decision, as he urged the ECB to retain the Pataudi name. Consequently, there is now a confirmed plan to maintain this tradition in future series between England and India.
Retaining Pataudi Legacy
An ECB official confirmed that "Yes, there is a confirmed plan to retain the Pataudi link in the England-India series." To honour this legacy, a medallion named after MAK Pataudi will be awarded during these matches.
Despite these changes, both teams remain focused on their upcoming matches. The series promises intense competition and excitement for cricket fans worldwide.
