Konstas vs Bumrah: Indian Captain’s Fiery Reply With Last Ball Masterclass Lights Up Sydney Test
The final Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia at Sydney witnessed high drama on the opening day, with Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah at the centre of the action.
The day ended with Australia at 9/1 after three overs, but not before Bumrah gave a spectacular response to Australian batter Sam Konstas' sledging.

The Incident
After being sledged by Konstas, Bumrah let his bowling do the talking. On the final ball of the day, Bumrah dismissed Usman Khawaja with a sharp delivery that was caught in the slips. As Team India erupted in celebration, Bumrah turned to Konstas with a cold, piercing stare, delivering his message without saying a word.
Konstas had started off the innings by hitting a four of the first ball of Bumrah.
India's Struggle with the Bat
Earlier in the day, India was bowled out for 185 after recovering to 107/4 by tea. The lower order collapsed, losing six wickets for just 78 runs in the final session. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant top-scored with a gritty 40 off 98 balls, while Scott Boland was the standout bowler for Australia.
Social Media Explodes
Netizens celebrated Bumrah's passive-aggressive response to Konstas' provocation, with the incident going viral on social media.
One user tweeted, *"ABSOLUTE CINEMA IN SYDNEY. 🍿
Sam Konstas involved in an argument with Bumrah.
Bumrah removed Khawaja on the last ball.
Team India totally fired up.
Bumrah gives an ice-cold stare to Konstas after the wicket."*
Another added, "Bumrah gets Khawaja with the last ball of the day, then turns to Konstas after their earlier verbals. How about that?!"
A third user remarked, "Konstas sledges Bumrah. Next ball, Bumrah takes out Khawaja and calmly walks towards Konstas. What a passive-aggressive response! Absolute cinema!"
Others lauded Bumrah's controlled aggression, with one fan tweeting, "Never mess with Jasprit Bumrah! I repeat, never!"
A Turning Point?
Bumrah, known for his calm demeanour on the field, showed a glimpse of his fiery side, leaving fans and cricket pundits speculating about the impact of this newfound aggression on his game. As one user quipped, "Imagine how destructive Bumrah could become if he starts getting fired-up regularly. Look out, batters!"
