India Stun South Africa In T20 WC Final, Take Home Cup After 17 Years
India claimed victory over South Africa by 7 runs in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 held at Kensington Oval, Barbados.
Chasing a target of 177, South Africa was restricted to 169 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Virat Kohli's gritty 76 off 59 balls was instrumental in India's innings, helping them reach a total of 176 for 7, which is now the highest score in a men's T20 World Cup final. India had a shaky start, being reduced to 34 for 3 in 4.3 overs.
However, a crucial 72-run partnership between Kohli and Axar Patel helped stabilize the innings.
Axar contributed significantly with 47 off 31 balls. Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje were the standout bowlers for South Africa, each picking up two wickets for 23 and 26 runs, respectively.
India bowlers held their nerve to defend the total, sealing a thrilling win and securing the T20 World Cup title.
