Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who was entertaining fans from the commentators' box, will not do commentary in the rest of the India vs England Vizag Test. According to the reports, during the opening day's play, the tragic news of Sunil Gavaskar's mother-in-law's demise came in, making him leave commentary midway. Sunil Gavaskar immediately departed for Kanpur as his family needed him the most at the saddening hour.

The opening day of the India vs England 2nd Test was all about youngsters. Debutant Rajat Patidar impressed everyone with his strong technique and good 32 runs. While opener Yashwasvi Jaiswal stole the show as he notched an unbeaten 179 runs. The left-hander's powerful inning helped Team India to pin a massive total of 336 runs on Day 1 at the scoreboard.

Despite the early fall of wickets, Yashasvi held one end and continued batting with the head down. Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill could even cross the 35-run mark, but Jaiswal compensated for all of them. While batting calmly and technically, the 22-year-old punished all the bad balls. His day one inning was studded with rolling fours and towering sixes.

In the post-day conference, replying to a question about what was on his mind when playing England's fiery bowling attack, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he held his nerves when wickets were falling and just tried to play every ball on merit as suggested to him by coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma ahead of the match.

He further said that after completing his century he only wanted to play till day's end and score big for his team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue batting from 179 and eyeing to register a double century against his name.
