Ind Vs Aus: Netizens Slam Harbhajan Singh Over Misogynistic Remarks Against Anushka, Athiya

Netizens have come down heavily on former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh over his alleged misogynistic comments against actress Anushka Sharma and Athiya Shetty.

In the viral video, Harbhajan, who was doing Hindi commentator during the India versus Australia World Cup final match, was seen questioning Anushka and Athiya's understanding of cricket.

Anushka Sharma, wife of cricketer Virat Kohli, and Athiya Shetty, wife of KL Rahul, have come to the stadium to support India.

Harbhajan said, "Aur yeh main soch raha tha ki baat cricket ki ho rahi hai ya filmon ki. Kyunki filmon ke barein mein toh janta nahi kitni samajh hogi (And I was thinking whether the conversation is happening about cricket or films. Because I am not sure how much understanding they have about cricket)."

His remarks have not gone well with the netizens.

"Shayad filmon ki baatein hori hai ya cricket ki, pata nahi cricket ki kitni samajh hogi" The audacity of the commentators to pass a sexist comment on such a broadcast. Shame," a user reacted. "Hindi commentators openly mocking #anushkasharma on her understanding of cricket. Hum kab sudhrenge bhai, woh sirf Anushka nahi hai, she's wife of #ViratKohli. Who have created history recently and mocking someone while so many people watching is absolutely ridiculous,' the second user said.

"The commentator saying that Anushka and Athiya must be talking about films during the India vs Aus WC finals because "Cricket ki Zyaada samajh toh hogi nahi" is despicable. Misogyny is omnipresent, no matter the subject," an another angry netizen said.

Another user slammed, "@harbhajan_singh What do you mean that the ladies understand cricket or not?? Please apologise immediately. @AnushkaSharma."

India and Australia's match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
