The selector's committee led by Ajit Agarkar has named Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma as wicketkeepers for this series and gave rest to KL Rahul. Speedsters Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, and Mukesh Kumar have also got a chance ahead of the world tournament.

Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will also not be participating in the T20I series against Afghanistan due to injuries. On the other hand, the visitors will surely miss senior cricketer and spin magician Rashid Khan, who is out following a back injury.

Team India is scheduled to play three T20 games starting from January 11 in Mohali, followed by Indore and Bengaluru games on January 14 and 17, respectively.
