India's Dominant Performance in T20I

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Suryakumar Yadav showcased their batting prowess as India secured a 2-0 lead against Sri Lanka in the second T20I. Despite Shubman Gill's absence due to a neck spasm and Sanju Samson's failure, Jaiswal (30 off 15 balls) and Suryakumar (26 off 12 balls) led India to victory.

The rain-curtailed match saw India chasing a target of 78 runs in 8 overs after restricting Sri Lanka to 161 for 9. Jaiswal and Suryakumar added 39 runs in just over three overs, hitting seven fours and three sixes between them. Their aggressive approach left little room for Sri Lankan bowlers to create pressure.

Strategic Batting Against Spin

Maheesh Theekshana posed a threat with his carrom ball, dismissing Samson and challenging Suryakumar with a doosra. However, the Indian batters countered by employing both conventional and reverse sweep shots effectively. This strategy neutralised Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga's spin variations.

Hardik Pandya (22 not out off 9 balls) and Rishabh Pant (2 not out) finished the chase comfortably in 6.3 overs, making the final match of the series inconsequential. India's comprehensive performance highlighted their dominance in all departments of the game.

Bowlers Shine Again

Earlier, India's bowlers delivered another stellar performance after Surya won the toss. Sri Lanka lost seven wickets for just 31 runs in their last five overs, collapsing from a strong position at 130 for 2 in 15 overs to finish at 161 for 9.

Pandya's change of pace (2/23 in 2 overs) and Ravi Bishnoi's fast googlies (3/26 in 4 overs) were instrumental in this collapse. Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh also contributed with two wickets each, ensuring India's control over the game.

The Indian team's consistent performance under new head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav has been commendable. They have played like true T20 World Champions, outplaying Sri Lanka comprehensively.

This series win marks an excellent start for Gambhir and Suryakumar in their new roles, setting a positive tone for future matches. Fans are eagerly looking forward to seeing more such dominant performances from Team India.
