It took him 941 balls to achieve this feat while Starc took 941 balls.

Shami surpassed the wicket tally of 44 held by Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath, making him India's top wicket-taker in the ODI World Cup.

Shami's 7/57 figures remain the best bowling performance among the Indian bowlers in the World Cup. His performance surpassed the previous record set by Ashish Nehra, who had figures of 6/23 against England in the 2003 World Cup.
