Within hours of the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Dube left Ahmedabad with his wife and a friend. The trio booked seats in a 3-tier AC coach on an early morning train - the quickest option he could find at the time.

Speaking later, Dube admitted the decision was driven purely by emotion. He didn't want to delay the reunion any further after such a long time away.

However, the plan wasn't without its concerns. Travelling on a public train right after a high-profile tournament win meant there was a real chance of being recognised. Friends and family were worried about the attention he might attract.

Dube understood the risk but chose to go ahead, taking a few simple precautions to avoid being noticed. He kept a low profile with a cap, face mask and full-sleeved clothing, and carefully timed his arrival at the station.

Instead of waiting on the platform, he stayed inside the car until just minutes before departure, stepping out only when it was time to board. The early morning timing - just after 5 am - also helped him avoid crowds.

For Dube, the journey wasn't about comfort or style. It was about getting home as quickly and quietly as possible - a cricketer fresh off a world title, choosing simplicity to be with the people who mattered most.
