Harbhajan Singh’s ‘Kaali Taxi’ Quip on Jofra Archer Sparks Outrage In IPL 2025
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh, recently brought on board as a commentator for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, landed himself in hot water on Sunday.
While providing commentary during the Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Rajasthan Royals match, Harbhajan made an odd remark about English bowler Jofra Archer, likening him to a "kaali taxi (black taxi)."

The comment from the ex-India spinner-who has faced racism himself during his playing career-sparked a massive uproar on social media.
"London me kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai (Like the meter of London's black taxis, Archer's meter has also been on the higher side)," Harbhajan said during his commentary stint in the SRH vs RR clash.
Several fans took to social media to slam Harbhajan over the remark and demand an apology. The 'Turbanator', as he's nicknamed, has yet to offer a clarification or apologise for his words.
As for the match itself, Sunrisers Hyderabad racked up an impressive 286 runs-the second-highest total in IPL history-thanks to stellar batting from Ishan Kishan and Travis Head. In response, Rajasthan Royals managed only 242 runs while chasing the near-record target.
Archer struggled with the ball, conceding 76 runs in his four overs without claiming a single wicket.
