Amidst the India vs England Test series that has proven to be super entertaining and amusing, former English skipper Alastair Cook lauded ace Indian batter Virat Kohli. In a conversation with reporters, Alastair Cook said "Virat Kohli as Captain has added real competitiveness, hardness, and toughness to Team India."

Virat Kohli, who missed the test series against England following the birth of his second child, may return for the fifth test slated for Dharamshala from March 7 to 11, 2024.

England Captains Big Statement On Virat

The statement from the former English star came after the young Indian side handed over a test series defeat to England after 17 years. The way Indian players namely Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, and Sarfraz Khan dominated and showed skillful performances amazed everyone. However, it must be noted that senior cricketers Rohit Sharma, R Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja set the tone and powered the team from behind the curtain.

Noting the fightback and counterattack spirit, which is a big change in young team India, Cook gave all credit for the change in attitude to former Indian captain Virat Kohli. He also praised Rohit Sharma for trusting and giving opportunities to young players.

Praisig boys after the match, Rohit Sharma had said, "These guys are grounded, they come from a humble background, so they obviously take that into their game as well, our job is to make sure that the environment is there for them to go out there & do the job and that is what we try and do with the youngsters".
