Former cricketer Mrinank Singh has been detained for duping luxury hotels and even Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. Singh, detained on December 25, posed as an IPS officer to defraud multiple luxury hotels, including the Taj Palace in Delhi, for Rs 5.5 lakh, and Rishabh Pant for Rs 1.6 crore.
Additional DCP Ravikant Kumar said that Singh's impersonation as an IPL player, stating, "In July 2022, he presented himself as a renowned cricketer who had played in the IPL to the Taj Palace. He stayed nearly a week, amassing a bill of around Rs 5.6 lakh. He assured the hotel that his sponsor, Adidas, would cover the expenses. However, the provided bank account details and card information turned out to be falsified."

Despite attempts to reach Singh and his manager, promises were unfulfilled, prompting a formal complaint.
Police investigations revealed Singh posed as a police officer from Karnataka and used to cheat hotels. Pant reportedly handed over watches and received a cheque that bounced. Singh also said that he was playing for the Haryana U19 team and purported involvement with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
