Ex-RCB Skipper Anil Kumble Praises Kannadiga Star KL Rahul
Former Indian captain and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) ex-star Anil Kumble has praised KL Rahul's composed innings on the second day of the third Test at Lord's.
KL Rahul, who had already scored a century in the first Test, played a crucial unbeaten 53 off 113 balls. His performance helped India withstand England's bowling attack, particularly Jofra Archer's challenging spells.

India ended the day at 145/3, trailing England by 242 runs in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal (13), Karun Nair (40), and captain Shubman Gill (16) were dismissed on day two. Despite losing partners regularly, Rahul managed to keep his composure and maintain India's position.
KL Rahul 's Technique Against England's Bowlers
Anil Kumble highlighted Rahul's ability to handle Archer's fiery spell, where he bowled over 150 kmph with steep bounce and swing. "It was fantastic, a typical KL Rahul innings where he had to grind it out," Kumble remarked on JioHotstar. He noted that Rahul was clinical and disciplined in his approach, showcasing maturity throughout his innings.
Jonathan Trott, former England batter and current Afghanistan head coach, emphasized the importance of playing with a straight bat on this pitch. He noted that Rahul excelled in neutralizing the early threat posed by the new ball. Trott stated, "I don't think you can go out there and dictate terms to the bowlers on this pitch."
KL Rahul 's Comparisons with Shubman Gill
Trott drew parallels between Rahul's performance and Shubman Gill's approach in the second Test. He mentioned that using a straight bat and being patient when facing deliveries on the stumps were key strategies employed by both batsmen. Trott added that capitalizing on bad balls was essential for success.
Anil Kumble expressed confidence that Rahul would be satisfied with his performance against England's pace attack. His disciplined knock not only showcased his technical prowess but also demonstrated his ability to adapt to challenging conditions.
