Ex-India Cricketer Arrested In Vadodara

Former India cricketer Jacob Martin was arrested after an alleged drunk-driving crash in Vadodara. Police said Martin's luxury SUV hit three parked cars in the early hours of 28 January. No injuries were reported, but the cars suffered damage.

Officers at Akota Police Station registered a case under BNS provisions on rash and drunk driving. The complaint came from the owner of the damaged cars. Investigators seized Martin's MG Hector SUV as part of the probe.

According to police, the collision happened near Punit Nagar Society in the Akota locality. Martin was driving around 2.30 am when intoxication allegedly caused the SUV to lose control and crash into stationary cars outside a house.

Martin, a former Baroda Ranji Trophy captain, had earlier faced legal trouble in 2011. Delhi Police arrested Martin that year over alleged human trafficking charges. The fresh drunk-driving case adds to the previous criminal case on Martin's record.

The 53-year-old, who represented India in 10 ODIs, was taken into custody hours after the crash. Police have not mentioned any injuries to Martin. Further action will follow once the investigation and legal procedures in Vadodara progress.
