“Even My Daughter Doesn’t Do Much Physical Activity”: MS Dhoni Gets Real About Fitness Crisis Amoung Youth

He's known for his calm demeanor on the field and lightning-quick reflexes behind the stumps. But off the field, MS Dhoni is sounding the alarm-not about cricket, but about the dwindling physical fitness of India's younger generation.

Speaking candidly at a local event in his hometown, Dhoni reflected on a trend he finds deeply concerning: the sharp decline in physical activity among Indian children and teens.

"The average fitness level of us as Indians has gone down," Dhoni observed. "Nowadays, that age is coming down-in the sense, the amount of physical activity is coming down."

The concern is personal too. Dhoni revealed that even his daughter, Ziva, isn't particularly active. Unlike her father, who built a career on agility and discipline, Ziva isn't naturally drawn to sports. "She doesn't do a lot of physical activity. She's not into sports," he shared, adding that he and his wife Sakshi now plan structured activities at home to encourage movement and engagement.

It's a relatable parenting moment from a global sports icon-and one that underscores a larger issue. In a world dominated by screens, digital distractions, and urban routines, Dhoni's message is clear: fitness is no longer automatic-it has to be intentional.

Still Game for IPL 2026? Dhoni Leaves the Door Ajar

At 44, Dhoni continues to defy the odds. While whispers about retirement have floated for years, he keeps coming back-injuries, age, and expectations notwithstanding.

In the 2025 IPL season, when Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out mid-tournament, Dhoni stepped up once more to lead Chennai Super Kings. Though CSK missed the playoffs, fans were reminded why Dhoni's leadership and presence still command respect.

So, what about IPL 2026?

"I haven't decided," Dhoni said. "It depends on how the body feels. I'll take a call before the auction."
