Dinesh Karthik Praises Rohit Sharma For Humorously Hitting Out At People Spreading Retirement Rumours
Former Cricketer Dinesh Karthik recently praised Rohit Sharma for his humorous yet firm response to people speculating false news about Indian skipper's retirement. Dinesh Karthik said, "It pretty much sums up Rohit Sharma as a person. Very humorous about it but at same time sending the message across: 'Don't be in a hurry to ask for my retirement. I'll do it when I feel like it.'" He also commended Virat Kohli's ability to perform under pressure.
Rohit Sharma has put an end to the swirling rumours about his retirement from One Day Internationals (ODIs) saying: "I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure no rumours are spread moving forward. Koi future plan hai nahi, jo chal raha hai chalega (there is no future plan, whatever is going on will continue as it is)."

Future Plans and Collaborations
A report suggests that Rohit Sharma aims to extend his cricket career until the 2027 World Cup. If all goes well, he might retire from international cricket after this ICC event in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. By then, he will be 40 years old. The report also mentions his collaboration with Abhishek Nayar for fitness and batting strategies.
Nayar is highly respected among Indian cricketers for his coaching methods. Players like Dinesh Karthik and KL Rahul have praised him. As a former teammate of Rohit Sharma, Nayar's role will be crucial in preparing Rohit for the upcoming matches leading to the World Cup.
Uncertain Test Future
There remains uncertainty regarding Rohit's future in Test cricket. His performance during the Border Gavaskar Trophy was not impressive. The report indicates that his form in the IPL will play a significant role in determining his selection for India's tour of England in June.
The source quoted in the report mentioned, "Let the IPL be over first. Only an astrologer thinks so far ahead into the future." This highlights how unpredictable cricket selections can be based on current performances.
India is expected to play 27 ODIs between 2025 and 2027 as part of their preparation for the World Cup. Additional matches may be scheduled later. These games will serve as vital practice sessions for Rohit Sharma as he gears up for this major event.
Dinesh Karthik also expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal's potential as an opener. He stated, "Jaiswal is a bonafide opener. When he gets his turn, he's going to do phenomenally well." This shows optimism about India's future talent pool.
