Cricketer Varun Chakravarthy Received "Threat Calls"

Cricketer Varun Chakravarthy, who impressed fans and stunned opponent batters with his turning balls during the Champions Trophy 2025, recently revealed that he got death threats after the 2021 World Cup. On a YouTube show, Varun Chakravarthy said people were so upset with him that they didn't want him to return to the country.

But things have changed, and critics have become fans. It was all about victory and he understands cricket fans' emotions.

"After the 2021 World Cup, I received threat calls. 'Don't come to India. If you try, you won't be able to.'People came up to my house, and tracked me down - I had to hide at times. When I was returning from the airport, a couple of people followed me on their bikes. It happens. I can understand fans are emotional. But when I look back at those things and the praise I am receiving now, I am happy," Chakravarthy said.

Varun Chakravarthy toppled Australia, and New Zealand batters during the semi-final and final and powered India to clinch the title.

"I think the Champions Trophy was a huge confidence booster because I played only four matches. And when I performed impressively in those matches, I felt I belonged and that there was a place for me. But I didn't expect this success," the cricketer added.

Initially, Varun was not part of the squad and his name was added in the 11th hour. The decision proved to be an ace move as Men in Blue's strategy to play with 4 spinners was unbeatable.
