In a social media post, Tharoor wrote, "I've been missing @imVkohli a few times during this series, but never as much as in this Test match. His grit and intensity, his inspirational presence in the field, not to mention his abundant batting skills, might have led to a different outcome."

England seemed set to win both the match and series despite having only 10 fit players due to Chris Woakes' injury. They were on track for another thrilling run chase after successfully chasing 371 in Leeds earlier in the series. England held a 2-1 lead going into this final test.
