Former Australian fast bowler legend Glenn McGrath recently described ace Indian batter and former captain Virat Kohli as an "emotional" player. McGrath advised Australia team to "go hard at him" in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. He said Virat Kohli is already "under pressure" following his recent form and a few low scores in starting tests could negatively impact his performance throughout the series.

McGrath suggested that if Australia challenges Kohli aggressively, it might provoke an emotional response. "If they (Australia) go hard at him, if he gets in the fight with emotions, there's a bit of chat out there, who knows he might sort of lift," McGrath told media.

Pressure on Team India

The former cricketer also recommended that Australia maintain constant pressure on the Indian team from the beginning. This strategy aims to test India's readiness for the much-anticipated series down under. McGrath noted that after India's 3-0 loss to New Zealand, Australia has ample reasons to be confident.

"Without a doubt, especially after coming off a 3-0 loss against New Zealand, you've got plenty of ammunition to back yourself up," McGrath added. "So put the pressure on them and see if they're up for it."

World Test Championship Standings

India currently holds second place on the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) points table with a points percentage (PCT) of 58.33%. To secure a spot in the WTC 2023-25 finals, they must win the series 4-0. Meanwhile, Australia leads with a PCT of 62.50 and is poised to reach the WTC final for a second consecutive time.
