Bengaluru To Host WPL 2024 Opener: Delhi Capitals (DC) Vs Mumbai Indians (MI) To Be First Game

According to the reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will host the opening game of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) on February 22 in Bengaluru. The reports said that the WPL 2024's opening match will likely be played between Delhi Capitals and inaugural season winner Mumbai Indians. While the final match of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) will be played in Delhi.

Last year, all matches of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) were played at Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium, but this time the BCCI has decided to host matches at other teams' venues also.

Earlier, the news of WPL 2024 matches to be held at Delhi and Bengaluru was confirmed by a BCCI source. ANI had quoted the BCCI official saying "Women IPL will be held in Delhi and Bangalore this year Board aims to make League bigger and better".

For the unversed, there are five teams in the Women's Premier League (WPL) namely Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Titans, and UP Warriors. A total of 22 matches will be played in the league stage format and top three teams will qualify for the playoffs to claim the WPL winners cup.
